Robbie Williams joins take that in the studio

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has fuelled speculation he is set to reunite with his former TAKE THAT bandmates after joining them at a recording studio in New York over the weekend (26-27Sep09).

The Angels singer quit the band in 1995 to bag a solo career and the four other members Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald - disbanded the pair a year later. They reunited for a hugely successful tour in 2006 and have released a string of hits in the U.K. since then. The Shine hitmakers have been dogged with rumours their former bandmate would rejoin them at some stage, after Barlow and Williams himself both admitted they would love to reunite. And now it looks that four will become five once more, after Williams attented Take That to the Electric Lady Studios in the Big Apple on Saturday (26Sep09) reportedly to work on new music. A source tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, 'He is back with Take That in the studio and they're all writing together again. Robbie wouldn't be glad performing old Take That songs that he has had no part in.'But if they can pen new tracks that they're all glad with, they'll record them and he'll be back with them on stage.'They thought it (New York) was the best place to hook up and start writing again without attracting too much attention. They are nowhere near recording anything. This was a writing session to look how they go.'

Robbie Williams new album details revealed he finally confirms Take That reunion, sort of

Robbie Williams comeback continues apace today with more details emerging about his new album, video for new single Bodies and his reunion with Take That.
As revealed by Mirror yesterday, Robbie has been back in the studio with Take That for secret recording sessions.
We also revealed today that the sessions had gone so well, they extended them into a next day.
However, Robbie is trying to keep a lid on revealing too much detail about what's been going with his former bandmates Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange.
He was doorstepped by a reporter from GMTV last night as he left the studio - and was asked what his plans were.
Robbie joked: “I’ll tell you exactly what we’re doing here the winter Olympics are coming up and we’re thinking of entering the first 5 man bobsleigh team for the UK.”
Meanwhile, Robbie’s new album has been getting rave reviews by celebrity fans including ex bandmate Gary, actor James Corden and er, darts player Phil Taylor.
Promo copies of his eighth studio album Reality Killed The Video Star have been set out to a select few music industry insiders under the pseudonym Luke Moody in an attempt to defy internet pirates.
And it looks like the 35 year old is back on form, with early anticipation that the album will go straight to Number One following its release on November 9.
The tracklisting goes: Morning Sun, Bodies, You Know Me, Blasphemy, Do You Mid, Last Days Of Disco, Somewhere, Deceptacon, Starstruck, Difficult For Weirdos, Superblind, Won't Do That and Morning Sun Reprise.

Take that extend Robbie Williams' studio time

TAKE THAT have boosted fans' hopes of a reunion with ROBBIE WILLIAMS after reportedly booking more time in the studio with their former bandmate.
The Angels singer quit the band in 1995 to pursue a solo career and the four other members Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald disbanded the pair a year later. The foursome reunited in 2006, releasing a number of hits in the U.K., and have been repeatedly subjected to rumours Williams would rejoin them after Barlow admitted he'd love the original line up to reform.Williams accompanied Take That to the Electric Lady Studios in New York on Saturday (26Sep09), sparking speculation the band will soon release new music together. And it appears the boys have hit it off they have reportedly agreed to meet up again for an extended writing session, according to Britain's the Daily Mirror.A source tells the publication, 'It's been 14 years since all five have been together for an extended time and they were having a blast. It went so well they all agreed to meet for a second session. It's a bit of a boys' adventure.'

Take That shine in New York to Robbie Williams

Take That were determined to shine even without Robbie Williams as the band hit town in the Big Apple last night.
In their smartest outfits, Mark Owen, and Jason Orange led the pack, with bleary eyed Gary Barlow also in tow as the band dined out and then headed to a club.
Earlier in the day, the pair had been seen arriving at a New York studio together with Robbie, but he opted out of the night time frolics.

He had flown from his home in Los Angeles for Owen's stag party in New York the previous night.
The pair partied in Soho House private members' club and were up the next day to go to a recording studio.
Robbie walked out of Take That 14 years ago, to the dismay of millions of fans.
But rumours of a reunion between Robbie and the boys increased as they were seen heading to the Electric Lady Studio together.
Williams was seen arriving at 2.15pm, after Jason Orange at 1.20pm and Gary Barlow and Howard Donald at noon. It was not clear if Owen also attended the studio session.
A Take That spokesman was quick to dampen speculation that they were recording new material, saying they were only there to approve the final mixes for a live album.

Take That, Robbie Williams and the latest reunion rumour

Take That fans be warned: you may be about to have your nostalgic hearts broken again.
Yes, the latest Robbie Williams Take That reunion rumour already looks to be coming undone.
The solo chart topper, who sent a batch of teenagers into prolonged mourning after leaving Take That in 1995, sparked wide gap celebration and a tabloid frenzy after being photographed meeting his former bandmates at a New York recording studio at the weekend.
The Mirror quoted “a source” as saying: “He is back with Take That in the studio and they’re all writing together again. Robbie wouldn’t be glad performing old Take That songs that he has had no part in.
“But if they can pen new tracks that they’re all glad with, they’ll record them and he’ll be back with them on stage.”
But this afternoon, the band’s spokesperson, Richard Dawes, cast doubt on the latest in a long line of reunion results.
All five were in New York for band member Mark Owen’s stag night, he said, and the studio was not booked for a recording session.
“They were there approving mixes for a live album that’s due out at the end of November.”
Williams, he said, had likely popped in to have a listen.
Reunion rumours have surfaced and receded repeatedly since 2007 when Williams and frontman Gary Barlow put more than a decennary of acrimony aside and revived their friendship.
Williams, who is about to release his first album in three years, has done little to discourage the endless speculation by reguarly flirting with the idea of a reunion in interviews.
Earlier this month, he said he would “really like” to work with the band now that old rifts, which saw the pair dissolve before reforming without him, had been healed.
In a radio interview with Chris Moyles, he said: “I was with (Take That frontman) Gary Barlow a couple of weeks ago and we watched the whole (Take That tour) gig together at mine and I just thought it's one of the best gigs I have ever seen,” he said.
"It was an amazing gig and I loved it."
Asked if it felt weird to look his former bandmates performing, he replied "Not actually.”
"It made me want to be with them in the band."
Williams saw his career stall while Take That enjoyed a second round of success without him. After leaving the band, he built an enviable career, racking up eight No 1 albums and six chart topping singles, while the pair dissolved. However when Take That regrouped without Williams in 2005, they found widespread success just as their former bandmate’s album, Rudebox, garnered poor reviews and failed to produced any chart conquering singles.
After three years away from the music industry, Williams will release Reality Killed the Video Star on November 9.

Robbie Williams' perfume promo

Robbie Williams' new music video was divined by aftershave adverts.
The pop star needed the promo for 'Bodies' to examine different conspiracy theories, but caved in to his record label's demand to make it like a TV commercial for a fragrance.

The 35 year old singer said: "The song itself is a big conspiracy laden song. Its where my head's been for the last three years, on the internet watching films like 'Zeitgeist', 'The God That Wasn't There' and '9/11 Was An Inside Job'.
"But if I'd put that in the video, the public would have said, 'He's definitely gone mental'. So I said, 'What do you think we should do?' And my record company said, 'Let's do an aftershave advert', and I'm like, 'Cool!' "
Robbie's eighth studio album 'Reality Killed The Video Star' is due for release in November, but the star is upset people won't like his brand of pop this time around.
He told MTV News: "I don't know if people have got their ears on for me but I'm knocking at the door going, 'Do you want some of this again or not?'
"I'm alright if you don't like it or if you do. I think the next couple of months will define the rest of my life."

Album spot Susan Boyle races Robbie Williams for No 1

He is the comeback kid. She is the maiden aunt with a dream. Robbie Williams and Susan Boyle are now also unlikely rivals for the longest musical prize of the year: the No1 album slot in the run up to Christmas. This weekend the two British stars are both in America to wage a publicity war that only one of them can win. They have as much in common as a silk bow tie and a pair of tartan slippers but the struggle to win sales from the target audience they share may prove crucial to the future of the record companies that back them.
Boyle's arrival at Los Angeles airport marked the onset of what was inevitably dubbed "Boylemania" by the US media. The 48 year old Scot, who won fame on Britain's Got Talent singing "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables, wore sunglasses and blew kisses to fans as bodyguards led her through a crowd of photographers to a waiting limousine. Six months ago Boyle was unemployed and living alone with her cat in the West Lothian town of Blackburn, but on Wednesday night she sang her new single, a cover of the Rolling Stones's Wild Horses, to a vast TV audience on the US version of the show that made her a household name.
For the music commentator Paul Gambaccini there is little doubt who will triumph. "No contest. It is Susan Boyle," he said this weekend. "That is not an insult to Robbie Williams, it is just that, bizarre as it sounds, Boyle is the new artist story of the year around the world. The interest factor alone will bring her many, many sales."
Her take on the Jagger/Richards classic has already prompted a surge in orders, taking her album to the top of the Amazon.com chart, above both Whitney Houston and the Beatles. The I Dreamed A Dream album will be released by Sony Music on 23 November, a fortnight after Robbie Williams's EMI release of Reality Killed the Radio Star. This will be the former Take That star's final attempt to crack the American market and revive the multi-million sales of his early solo career. Like Boyle's promoters, Williams's publicists have arranged a series of high profile platforms for his comeback. In Britain he appeared on Chris Moyles's Radio 1 show to unveil his single Bodies, and on Friday it was confirmed he will sing the song for the first time on television on the X Factor live finals next month. Williams has not played in Britain for three years and has lived in self imposed exile. He flew into LA on Friday with his partner, actress Ayda Field, to publicise the release of his single on 12 October.
Williams, 35, has never managed to extend his European success to America. In 2005 Take That reformed without him and found new fans while Williams's career stalled. His 2006 album Rudebox did not sell well and music critics were unsparing. He acknowledged he was at a "turning point" in his career. "This next record decides my path," he said.
His new album is produced by veteran hitmaker Trevor Horn, of whom Williams says: "He's added something I haven't had on previous records his genius." The singer wants his new music to elate people and make them "forget about who they are and where they are for 50 minutes".
Yet industry pundits are not convinced that Williams can make headway against Boyle. Releasing the album in proximity to I Dreamed A Dream is a big mistake for EMI, according to some, after a year that has seen the company's market share drop dramatically. "I am amazed they have elected to go up against this," said one industry veteran. "Maybe they think increased traffic into record shops will report in increased sales for them too, but I am not sure that works."
Gambaccini is sceptical too: "Susan Boyle has combined YouTube hits of 120 million, and even if only one in 10 people who has looked her buys the album, we are talking ridiculous numbers. No one can stem that tide. She has the whole international Simon Cowell Machine behind her." Cowell, the impresario involved in Boyle's rise to fame, has made an unexpected choice of song for his Scottish newcomer that seems likely to turn a cult classic from the 1971 Stones album Sticky Fingers into a middle-of-the-road standard.
Bookmakers Ladbrokes have already chalked up odds as short as 2-5 on Boyle's album making Christmas No 1 in Britain. The as-yet-unknown winner of the current British X Factor series is still 1-3 favourite to top the Christmas chart, with Robbie Williams far behind on 20-1.
For Gambaccini, if Boyle does beat Williams it will confirm the birth of a new age.
"With the late Michael Jackson and the Beatles as the top-selling artists of the year, and then Susan Boyle and Vera Lynn topping the charts with huge sales, I think we can say the rock era is over. May it rest in peace."

STARS HIT BACK IN DOWNLOADS ROW TO ROBBIE WILLIAMS

Rock stars including ROBBIE WILLIAMS, ANNIE LENNOX, and PINK FLOYD's NICK MASON have hit back at allegations they condone the illegal downloading of music.British singer Lily Allen sparked a furious debate in the U.K. over illicit online trading of albums when she accused the Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) of failing to act to stop the practice. The Smile hitmaker insists fans who download music for free will destroy the industry, and urged FAC members to join her crusade. She spoke out after Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien a member of FAC criticised the British government's proposal to launch a crackdown on internet service providers who refuse to ban illegal downloaders. Now the arranger has hit back as several other stars including Take That's Gary Barlow, singer James Blunt, and Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp join forces with Allen. A statement on behalf of FAC members reads, "Statements made... by members of the Featured Artists Coalition have been taken to imply that we condone illicit file-sharing. This is not the case and never has been. "We wish to make it clear to all parties that we believe the creative work of artists should be paid for by those who enjoy it and that whenever our music is used, royalties should be paid. "The focus of our objection (to the government's proposal) is the proposed treatment of common music fans who download a few tracks so as to check out our material before they buy. For those of us who don't get played on the radio or mentioned in the music media - artists established and emerging - peer-to-peer recommendation is an important form of promotion."

Christmas No1 race Robbie Williams and Susan Boyle

Seasoned chart topper Robbie Williams is facing an unlikely competitor for the Christmas No1 album slot Britain’s Got Talent star Susan Boyle.
Both singers are trying to crack America for the envied top spot and unlike Boyle, it won’t be a first attempt for Williams.
The former Take Thatter has never been able to match his European success in the U.S. and is relying intemperately on his new album, due in early November, to secure this for him and revive his fortunes.

Williams’s EMI release of Reality Killed the Radio Star will go head to head with Boyle’s I Dreamed A Dream offering from Sony, which is being released two weeks later.
But pundits are already prediction doom for Williams, with one industry veteran telling The Observer: ‘I am amazed they have elected to go up against this.’
Music commentator Paul Gambaccini said: ‘No contest, it is Susan Boyle.
‘That is not an insult to Robbie Williams, it’s just that, freaky as it sounds, Boyle is the new artist and story of the year around the world. The interest factor alone will bring her many, many sales.’
Ladbrokes bookmakers have given odds of 2-5 on Boyle’s album making the Christmas No 1 in Britain compared to Williams’s at 20-1.
Mr Gambaccini added: 'Susan Boyle has together YouTube hits of 120 million, and even if only one in 10 people buys her album, we are talking pathetic numbers.
'No one can stem that tide. She has the whole international Simon Cowell Machine behind her.'
Williams has not performed in Britain for three years and is recently in LA publicising the release of his next single.
His Rudebox album in 2006 did not sell well and he admitted hitting a 'turning point' in his career.
Boyle is also in America, promoting her version of The Rolling Stones' Wild Horses.

comeback single set for chart success, Robbie Williams

The first single from Robbie Williams’s comeback album has had its first showcase and looks set to be an instant chart hit.Bodies, the first single from upcoming album Reality Killed The Video Star, will receive its chart release next month and looks Robbie return to his pop roots. Veteran music producer Trevor Horn (responsible for production on Pet Shop Boys and Simple Minds albums) has lent his expertise to the new sound which resultedly has more than a hint of Robbie’s northern roots, with a notable work from Ian Brown. The pop track features Robbie’s usual rhyming lyrics and a religious twist, showcasing Robbie’s more contemplative side, when the singer belts out: ‘Jesus actually died to me. Jesus tried for me.’The promotional pictures to attach to Bodies also gigs how Robbie’s taking his comeback earnestly, working hard to get his body back in shape, shedding a couple of stone to return to his trimmer form.
And with Radio 1 already pushing the track, six weeks ahead of its release and Radio 2 planning to make it single and record of the week, it looks the bad boy of pop is back, back, back!

A source tells the publication, "Ayda was attracted to Rob as he is vastly different to the average L.A. guy she is accustomed to, but in the end this was exactly what ended their relationship; he's too different. "He gave their relationship a serious go, but it was really the fact they weren't on the same page in terms of where their lives are going. Robbie Williams Questioned By Police Over Robbery

Robbie Williams is stuck in the Bahamas thanks to a link between himself, a few armed gunmen and the paparazzi. Here's how it all went down: Robbie was photographed by two paparazzi's smoking a large roll-up cigarette on a jet ski at the beach. When his entourage realized the paps were taking photos, they got really pissed and there was a huge confrontation. That same night at about 3AM, three masked gunmen broke into the huts of the paparazzi, held guns to their heads and threatened to kill them. The gunmen stole their cameras, clothes, travel documents and cash. And of course the memory chips inside the cameras. Coincidence?! Police are investigating whether the robbers knew about the fight over the pictures, and are interviewing a number of witnesses, including Robbie. Bahamas police chief Ellsworth Moss insisted Robbie is not a suspect in the crime, but will be questioned as an eyewitness. He said: "We are in the process of speaking to Robbie Williams. I sent a team of officers from Nassau to the island and I am waiting for them to report back to me. "They are going to speak to everybody who would have been party to whatever may or may not have happened on the beach. From the information we get from him we will know exactly where to move with the investigation." Do you think Robbie's entourage was responsible for the break in? It sounds like it's too big of a coincidence, doesn't it? Tell us your thoughts

Robbie announces comeback album

Robbie Williams is hoping to win back his crown as Britain's biggest pop star with a new album in November.
Reality Killed The Video Star will be his first release since 2006's Rudebox, which met with a tepid reception from fans and critics.

Williams described the new record as "a killer". He said listeners would hear "old Robbie, new Robbie and a Robbie that neither of us have met".
The first single from the album, Bodies, will be released on 11 October.

Writing on his blog, Williams revealed he had rewritten one of his new songs in tribute to Michael Jackson.

"[I] couldn't get a lyric to fit on one of the new songs. When he passed away I rewrote it with him in mind," he said.

The star added that he had enlisted the help of lyricist Don Black, who co-wrote one of Jackson's earliest solo hits, Ben, as well as the Bond themes Thunderball and Diamonds Are Forever.

"I was having a tough time with lyrics for a little while," he wrote. "Nothing would come out.

"Don Black kindly came in and gave me a helping hand. He's the nicest legend I've ever met. I love him."
